A strong translation team has been one of our greatest assets as well as our pride, which comprises of experienced translators from home and abroad. Although they live in different surroundings, and speak different languages, they all pursue the profession of translation. At present, the translation team has 660 members, consisting of SOHO translators, management staff, technicians, lawyers, doctors, masters, senior scholars, professors, language experts and students returned from abroad. They not only have accomplished a great deal in their own specialty, but are skilled in language and literature. Dedication and devotion is their common character. Any of them has at least three-year experience in translation.

In 1898, Mr. Yan Fu, a famous translator of modern China, proposed as a translation standard of "Faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance". Faithfulness means that translation must follow the original faithfully. Expressiveness means that translated text shall be grammatical and smooth. Taste means that translated text shall make melodic reading. However, it is frequently the case that some translators who have the background of foreign language study lack necessary knowledge of science and technology, making the translated text nonunderstandable due to inappropriate use of words; on the other hand, some translators who graduated from the colleges of science and engineering are relatively weak in language competence, leading to rigid and obscure translation.

Our translation team just combines the advantages of above two kinds of translators. According to our practice, the translators who have the background of science and engineering education do first translation. After that, the translators who have the background of foreign language study are responsible for verbal modification.
